Sale of Highland Park Landmark
Knox at Travis 7-11 Site
Information on the Closing
June 16, 2008
A Highland Park area landmark has sold. The 7-11 Store located at the corner of Knox and Travis, at the eastern entrance to Highland Park, was sold earlier today to Knox Travis Place Ltd. The new owner does not have a redevelopment plan as yet. The 7-11 Store was one of the earliest convenience stores and was for years affectionately called “John’s Store” referring to the late former Chairman of 7-11, John Thompson, the oldest son of the founder of the 7-11 chain of convenience stores.
King Laughlin Company president, C. King Laughlin, represented both the Buyer and the Seller, 7-Eleven Inc. King Laughlin Company has a long history with 7-Eleven dating back to the 1980’s when King Laughlin Co., Inc. acquired over 160 acres in 1000 separate tracts of land which became known as Cityplace.
